Testimonials

  • “My name is Abdul, and I am 20 years old. When my parents applied for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) funding to help me attend a day program, we were devastated when our application was rejected without a clear reason. The rejection left me feeling lost, isolated, and deeply discouraged. To make matters worse, the service providers recommended by our caseworker required payments that were simply beyond what my family could afford. Just when we felt like we had run out of options, someone recommended Bright Light Multicultural Centre to my mom. From the moment we reached out, their staff treated us with kindness, warmth, and respect. They not only registered me in their programs at no cost but also helped connect us to additional services where I felt welcomed and valued. For the first time in a long time, I found a place where I truly belong. I cannot thank Bright Light Multicultural Centre enough for their generosity and support. They gave me hope, resources, and a sense of community. I am forever grateful.”

A Brighter Future for a Young Adult with a Learning Disability

  • “As parents of 15-year-old twins with Cerebral Palsy, who both rely on wheelchairs, navigating services in Canada has been incredibly challenging. We immigrated two years ago and completed all the necessary medical assessments before applying for Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD). Unfortunately, we were placed on a waiting list for over two years, leaving us feeling frustrated and exhausted. It wasn’t until we were connected with Bright Light Multicultural Centre that things began to change. They welcomed us with open arms and registered us in their programs - completely free of charge. Their staff Iyesatu Jalloh was always available to provide support, whether it was advocacy, respite services, or consultations. Thanks to their guidance, we finally accessed essential resources that helped us manage our children’s care. Bright Light Multicultural Centre has been a lifeline for our family. Their services have not only provided much - needed relief but also helped prevent caregiver burnout. From respite care to counseling, they have made an incredible difference in our lives, and we will always be grateful for their unwavering support.”
